WITI Offline “A Tasting Tour of Fine Chocolates”

Wednesday, November 28, 2012
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Presented by New Leaf Chocolates, Walter Plante will tell us about how the cocoa beans are grown, where the organic and fair trade artisan chocolates come from, and we’ll have many samples throughout the evening.

Walter will also talk about their unique product, GreenPod, sustainable packaging which uses only recycled, biodegradable, and recyclable materials. This event will be held at the Battery Lounge at the Fairmont Battery Wharf to insure we have beverages to cleanse our pallet. Come and enjoy chocolate, red wine and camaraderie with women in business.

Meeting Notes: Appetizers are provided by the Aragosta Restaurant at the Fairmont. Bring your business cards and your smile. Men are welcome to attend who love chocolate.

About Our Speaker(s)

After 20 years of world travel, Walter Plante has accumulated over one million frequent flyer miles and a deep passion for fine food and chocolate. Immersed in the culture of artisan food in Europe and the culture of cacao cultivation in the tropics, he has been struck by the immense depth of the chocolate world. With the knowledge and appreciation of chocolate gained through his travels, he decided to elevate awareness of artisan chocolates in the United States.

So, he co-founded NewLeaf Chocolates along with his wife, Genevieve Oba. Walter focuses on chocolate education including teaching chocolate appreciation classes in the Boston area. He also shares his knowledge of chocolate by writing the chocolate review and travel blog, Kokobuzz.com. He has received basic instruction in chocolate from the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts and holds an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from WPI. When he is not writing and teaching about chocolate, he spends his days as the Director of Program Management for a manufacturing company outside Boston.
