1996 Channels for Change

Channels for Change '96 Conference was a resounding success! Over 2,700 women and men attended WITI's second annual conference that was held at the Santa Clara Convention Center June 4 - 7.

Highlights included:

• Induction of the first ten women into WITI's Hall of Fame and letters of support from Vice President Al Gore and President Bill Clinton.
• The launch of Women in Science & Technology Month.
• Keynote addresses by:
  Dr. Cheryl Shavers of Intel;
  
  Rene Redwood, special assistant to the secretary of labor;
  
  Donna Shirley of the MARS program;
  
  Dr. Misha Mahowald, inventor of the silicon retina;
  
  Virginia Rogers, founder of the Relax the Back.
