Keynote Address: Rebecca Shambaugh
President and CEO, SHAMBAUGH LEADERSHIP
This should be the decade for the woman leader. More than one-third of the Fortune 500 managers are women. More than half who earn multidisciplinary master's degrees are women, and women represent the primary consumer decision makers in almost 9 out of every 10 households. So, why are only 7 of the Fortune 500 CEO's women? Why do women occupy barely 5 percent of the Fortune 500 top earners? Why are there fewer than 1 in 7 women holding board of director seats? The glass ceiling has served for decades as the traditional and reliable excuse. Rebecca Shambaugh will present her recent research and trends on why women are not ascending to the executive suite. She will present a compelling story that illustrates it is not as much the glass ceiling that holds women back, but rather, the real obstacles are right below women's feet, the sticky floor.
Rebecca Shambaugh, President and CEO of SHAMBAUGH Leadership, a global leadership and organizational development firm will be the keynote speaker for CTIA's Women in Leadership Seminar on September 12, 2006.
One of SHAMBAUGH Leadership's main areas of focus is developing and advancing women to leadership roles and assisting organizations with the development and retention of women executives.
Their WILL (Women In Leadership and Learning) division is designed to help organizations strengthen their capacity to develop, advance and retain women executives through best practices and targeted solutions.
Ms. Shambaugh will share a compelling business case for women to rise to senior leadership levels that will include solutions for both organizational and personal career obstacles that prevent women from reaching positions of influence and leadership.
Ms. Shambaugh will share her organization's recent research and her perspective regarding the "sticky floor" syndrome - patterns in women's own behavior that may hinder their own advancement.
