Dr. Barbara Grant is currently Vice President and General Manager of the Removable Media Storage Solutions Business Unit in the IBM Storage Systems Division. This business unit is responsible for worldwide development, manufacturing, sales and marketing of IBM removable media storage solutions. In addition, she is the site general manager of the IBM Tucson facility.
Dr. Grant joined the IBM Research Division in 1975 as a research scientist. During her research tenure, she was the author of technical publications and patents for the use of novel organic materials. In 1986, Dr. Grant was appointed product manager of IBM System Printer Products, where she was responsible for worldwide product development and introduced over 12 new printer products.
In 1991, Dr. Grant was appointed Director of IBM Storage Division's Magnetic Recording Head Business Unit where she was responsible for worldwide development and manufacturing of the recording head technology used in all IBM storage products. In January 1994, she was appointed to SSD Vice President of Business Development where she was responsible for managing the business portfolio for the Storage Systems Division, including strategic alliances and acquisitions.
Dr. Grant received her Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Stanford University in 1974.
