Vice President, Worldwide ASP/Computer Imaging Systems
Texas Instruments
(profile at the time of induction in 1998)

Julie England is Vice President of Texas Instruments (TI) Incorporated, one of the top six semiconductor companies in the world with manufacturing or sales operations in more than 25 countries.

Ms. England joined TI as a first line engineer in 1979. Ten years, five patents, three cities and several positions later, she was named senior member of TI's technical staff. In 1994, Ms. England became the quality manager for the company's largest division, the Semiconductor Group, and was named vice president, the first woman to hold that position in this $8 billion business unit. She was promoted to her current position as business manager in 1998.

Ms. England serves on the board of directors for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, her third non-profit board position and is an active member of several professional women's organizations. She is involved in the Society of Women Engineers and the Institute for Electronic and Electrical Engineers. She has received significant recognition in the Dallas community, most recently with the "Women of Achievement Award" from the Richardson, Texas YWCA.

Throughout her career, Ms. England has mentored and inspired women to pursue technical and managerial careers, although her accomplishments alone have provided significant motivation for young women to set their career goals higher and make the extra effort to achieve something once considered unattainable. She often speaks on quality, reliability and career development at national and international conferences. Through her popular "Have the Tools, Know the Rules" workshop, England has provided career development direction to many TI employees worldwide.

She received her B.S. in chemical engineering from Texas Tech University.
