Excerpt from nomination: "Before working her way to becoming one of the country's most respected information management leaders, Kathy Brittain White was a pioneer in the effort to create a Management Infomration Services educational discipline. Through her work as a college professor, her work educating high school teachers in how to teach information technology, and her work to create technology camps for learners of all ages, White has contributed by making technology accessible to all in her community.
White has inspired countless people of all ages and both genders during her career as an educator and a technology innovator. She is a motivating force to many through her many organizational affiliations and speaking engagements. White has never hesitated to share of herself professionally and personally as she continues to be an outstanding role model for professional women."
Kathy Brittain White is senior vice president, healthcare services and chief information officer of Allegiance Healthcare Corporation. She oversees all of Allegiance's consulting services and business process reengineering and information systems.
Before Allegiance spun off from Baxter International, White served as Baxter's chief information officer. Before joining Baxter, she was vice president, information systems and services at Allied-Signal Corporation. White also headed her own information technology consulting firm, and served as an associate professor of management information services at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
White serves on several boards, including Chicago Children's Memorial Hospital, Lake Forest Graduate School and the Chicago Metropolitan YMCA. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. White was recently named one of the top CIOs in the United States, ad was named among the Top 100 Women in Computing in 1996.
