Highlights from Last Year's Summit

  • Patricia Arquette Returned!

Award-winning actress and humanitarian Patricia Arquette returned to the WITI Summit for the second year – in a Keynote Session featuring her support of gender issues and equality.
  • The Coaching Track

By popular demand, WITI's new COACHING TRACK featured more than 120 informal Coaching Circles and One-on-One Coaching, as well as more structured Coaching Workshops - on leadership and professional development topics of particular interest to women in technology.
  • Bring-Your-Male Ally/Champion/Co-Worker-to-the-Summit Day

To encourage more men to attend and benefit from the WITI Summit, Tuesday June 7 featured a special track sharing insights on how women leaders provide a proven competitive advantage. Key thought leaders – including Will Marré, Co-Founder of the Covey Leadership Center, and Dale Thomas Vaughn, Co-Founder of the Gender Leadership Group – helped men learn how to become stronger allies, champion women programs in their companies, and increase awareness about the value of gender parity in the workplace.
  • Drone Engineering Workshop for Middle School and High School Girls

A half-day session on Sunday, June 5, explore new capabilities in STEM education as girls worked in teams to design and build a quadcopter drone from beginning to end. The approach dives deeply into every component of STEM, catalyzing students to develop critical cognitive skills through a hands-on, team approach. The primary goal is to empower students to pursue an education and career in science. Summit attendees were encouraged to attend and support the contestants – and did so, with gusto!
  • Just added! The WITI Art Café

The WITI Art Café is a nod to the Renaissance and the Parisian cafés where scientists, technologists, artists and philosophers would meet, collaborate, and discuss new possibilities. This is part of WITI's commitment to drive innovation. Participants interacted with an augmented reality art exhibit, learned how to creatively use augmented reality for solutions, and participated in demos and discussions with artists about working with technology to unleash creativity.
  • WINS Panels

The WITI Industry-Based Networks (WINS) program provides speaking opportunities for women leaders to share their knowledge, expertise, and experiences with other women in their Industry. At the Summit, six interactive WINS panels provided a forum for women in: IoT; Sports Wearables; Digital Marketing; Health/Medical/BioTech; Mobile/Infrastructure/Networks; and Social Media.
  • Business & Technology Expo

The 2016 WITI Summit hosted a co-located Expo, with a new format: the Expo took place in the “town square” instead of in a separate expo hall, so attendees were always in the middle of the action – with opportunities to visit exhibitors and sponsors in a relaxed setting. More than 40 top companies with a demonstrated interest in empowering women to succeed in technology displayed products and services. Career development continued to be a focus. Exhibitors had both HR executives and product managers (and top C-level management as well) ready to speak with Summit attendees.
  • Women in Technology Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony and Gala Celebration

Five key leaders in science and technology were honored at the Annual Women in Technology Hall of Fame Awards Induction Ceremony. The tenacity, innovation, and courage of these women embolden, inspire, and empower us all to achieve even higher levels of excellence than we imagined.
  • Networking Opportunities

Networking opportunities were abundant! From the Sunday night Founder's Reception hosted by WITI Founder Carolyn Leighton – to our grand finale networking reception on Tuesday, which featured a meet-and-greet with Patricia Arquette. In between, box lunches on Monday and Tuesday provided an opportunity for attendees to create their own coaching circle schedules, or visit the Business & Technology Expo, or simply sit and schmooze with new colleagues.
  • Executive Auction

WITI's Executive Auction is a marvelous opportunity to compete for a meeting with corporate executives that could potentially propel your career skyward. At the same time, you will be contributing to the Women in Technology Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit Foundation which supports WITI's Hall of Fame.
  • No One Stands Alone

WITI strives to create genuinely welcoming environments where each person is treated with equal support and respect. Our policy at the Summit - as at all WITI events - is that no person stands alone; i.e., it is each person's responsibility to welcome a solitary individual into the group. No cliques are tolerated at WITI events.
  • Build. Empower. Inspire.

The WITI Summit strives to provide unparalleled opportunity to meet with hundreds of tech-savvy women and engage in a free exchange of ideas and experiences.
