IT professionals as much as anyone may have worked for several companies, been laid off, promoted, had multiple titles and responsibilities, worked for many bosses and had many people work for them. Roberta's topic will be a discussion around how the concept of “career path” may be changing, some lessons learned about how to manage personal career challenges, remain marketable and enjoy your work.

About Our Speaker(s)

Roberta Kowalishin is a strategic global executive who has touched the technology world from corporate information systems and consulting to venture capital startups. In her current role as VP, Information Technology at CapRock Communications, she is responsible for global IT. With vision, rapid execution and “just getting it done”, she is driving the transformation of CapRock’s information technology applications and infrastructure.


Prior to CapRock, Ms. Kowalishin spent several years as a Partner at Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) in New York where she was responsible for technology applications and infrastructure planning, prioritization and implementation of large integration projects in the financial services, oil and gas, and retail industries. Ms. Kowalishin worked on accounts such as Merrill Lynch, Wells Fargo and Apache Oil and Gas. Ms. Kowalishin served as Vice President at JPMorgan, leading emerging markets infrastructure technologies and Information Technology Manager at Agrium, Inc.

Ms. Kowalishin holds a Master of Science degree from the MIT Sloan School of Management and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Economics from McGill University. Ms. Kowalishin is a board member of the Houston MIT Enterprise Forum and Houston Achievement Place.

There are two entrances into the IC parking lot, one on North Stadium Drive and the other on Greenbriar. From Greenbriar, it is only possible to enter the IC parking lot when traveling south on Greenbriar. When traveling north on Greenbriar, a left turn into the IC parking lot cannot be made due to the Metro light rail track.
