Join us as we have three of our local government technology leaders speak about The State of Technology in the Public Sector. With such a varied panel of speakers, will hear about the similarities and differences of working in the public versus the private sector as well as the similarities and differences of being a part of each local government organization. We will have time for questions and answers so come prepared to expand your knowledge and understanding of technology that affects all of us!

LAURA FUCCI
CLARK COUNTY, NEVADA
CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER

Laura is the Chief Information Officer for Clark County, Nevada, one of the fastest-growing areas in the country. In this capacity, Laura has the pleasure of serving the technology needs to over 40 diverse local government departments and agencies including health and human services, justice and public safety, development and environmental management and internal solutions.

Prior to joining Clark County, Laura worked for 11 years at MGM MIRAGE in a variety of roles, including VP and CTO for MGM MIRAGE. She was responsible for infrastructure strategy and design at MGM MIRAGE and led various engineering efforts for two property openings, and assisted with two large mergers and acquisitions. She also acted as the VP of Technology for CityCenter, the largest private development in the country at the time

Among her many professional accomplishments, Laura is most proud in participating in the launch of the Las Vegas chapter of WITI (Women in Technology International), whose mission is to empower women worldwide to achieve unimagined possibilities and transformations through technology, leadership and economic prosperity. Laura earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science at Oregon State University and is a native to Henderson, Nevada.



JOSEPH MARCELLA
CITY OF LAS VEGAS
CIO/DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES

Mr. Marcella is the first and current CIO/Director of the Department of Information Technologies for the City of Las Vegas. He has held this position since the Department was created by the Mayor and Council in 1997. Mr. Marcella’s prior experience is primarily from the private sector, most recently as Senior Vice President and Director of Information Systems at Norwest Bank (now Wells Fargo). He has logged over forty (40) years in Information Systems and more then thirty (30) in the management of business technologies.

Mr. Marcella has been credited in both the private and public sectors with numerous “firsts”. Continuing this trend; the City of Las Vegas is one of a few government entities to earn an Oracle showcase designation. Las Vegas has been nationally recognized for its successful introduction and deployment of City wide enterprise systems, (well beyond the typical financials); Internet business services; e-Government delivery prowess; and its 4th generation interactive Web site (winner of the Center for Digital Government’s Best of the Web 2006, 2007 & #1 in the Nation in 2008). Accordingly, the City has been distinguished as one of the most wired cities in the Country.

Mr. Marcella is a member of the UNLV Graduate Advisory Board and the current Chair of the State of Nevada Entities Technical Alliance (SNETA – Government CIOs). Last year he was honored as one of the Nations Top 25 CIOs - Doers; Dreamers and Drivers.


CHRIS WILDING
CITY OF HENDERSON
CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER

Chris Wilding joined the City of Henderson as Chief Information Officer in the Department of Information Technology in May 2008.

Chris previously held the CIO position at Bechtel SAIC Co. LLC, the prime contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy Yucca Mountain Repository program in Las Vegas. Prior to that, he held CIO positions on U.S. Department of Energy nuclear programs in Washington State. Chris, a 15-year Bechtel veteran, has some 30 years experience in the engineering and construction industry on large-scale international projects, within petroleum, civil, and federal government sectors. He has proven leadership experience of large, complex IT operations and has successfully implemented significant cost savings through the use of Six Sigma methodology. He has received numerous Bechtel accreditations in Project Management, Contract Management, and related fields.
