Jeff Ames serves as the CTO for Switch Business Solutions, having served in the same position at Switch Communications Group since March of 2004. He brings more than 20 years of network and telecommunications experience to Switch and their clients.

Prior to joining Switch, Ames was the Sales Support Manager for Cox Communications, overseeing the Sales Engineering effort and business.
Ames previously worked for Sierra Pacific Communications as Director of Customer Engineering Services. He oversaw new business development, operational engineering and customer engineering support.
Ames spent nearly a decade as Field Administrator for the Photonics Research team. He was responsible for the diagnostics and data acquisition of specialized weapons testing using high-speed Electro-optic systems for the Department of Energy during the 80's. He left the government and headed up a program to expand a small emerging technology company's presence in Nevada. His experience in designing and integrating information systems for high-tech environments such as Motorola, DOE, US Bureau of Reclamation, Department of Forestry, Lawrence Livermore Laboratory and the like, exposed him to some of the world's greatest minds and machines.

Working with the national labs and using the Internet in its infancy gave Ames an early vision of the importance of the Internet and its commercial value. Then in 1993, Ames formed Intermind, the first Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Nevada.

He sat on the VAR advisory council for Netscape in California, and established some of the first high-bandwidth services to many governmental and commercial organizations in the Southwest. Ames’ love of science and technology draws him into social circles and technical resources that he absorbs and disseminates as a consultant and agent of technical expertise to his clients and colleagues nationwide.

Ames is Chairman of the Technology Advisory Committee for the Clark County Public Education Foundation.

Ames wrote the City of North Las Vegas Fiber Infrastructure plan, now in full swing.
