Should You Change Jobs?

There are frustrations even in the perfect job. With experience we learn the grass is not always greener on the other side. Yet, there are times when the job just isn't worth it. How do you know when to make a move?
Jim Hayhurst is a former CEO and author of Where Have I Gone Right? He spends a lot of time coaching people on their careers. He says you can't tell if the job is wrong unless you really understand yourself. Without clarity on your core values, skills and interests you can't distinguish between the annoyances you should live through and more profound issues. Your fundamental values may revolve around integrity, or working on a team, or making a difference in the world, or any number of other things. If the job conflicts with a fundamental value then you owe it to yourself to leave.

Spanish Start-up Launches in Hot New Wireless Sector
Sandra L. Wear, Network Director for WITI Spain, has had a technology career that includes the founding of a company named one of the Top 100 Emerging Companies by Computerworld (subsequently acquired by a public company for a record amount) and the launch to market of award-winning patented business applications for Fortune 500 companies. Now, Ms. Wear has officially announced the launch of Atalum Wireless SA, a leading provider of standard-based reliable and secure wireless solutions that sense, monitor and control anything from anywhere to create smart WSNs (Wireless Sensor Networks). These WSNs enable smart environments (smart homes, smart buildings, smart indoor or outdoor spaces, etc.), and Atalum is dedicated to enabling people and businesses to be completely free of physical boundaries to do what they need to do.
Atalum was founded in 2003 by entrepreneurs with a proven track record for creating and building technology companies and executing on-time corporate deployments with expertise in embedded systems and LR-WPAN (Low Rate Wireless Personal Area Networks) technology. "Our R&D investment and management expertise allow us to offer interoperable wireless solutions that fulfill the specific sensing & control needs of the predicted $7 Billion US marketplace," says Wear, Atalum's CEO & President.
Atalum will begin pilots in early 2005.

Alex Ramsey, president of Lodestar Universal, a management and communications consulting firm (check out her profile in the WITI Marketplace), was recently quoted in "White-collar Wake-up Call", an article on global outsourcing published by Women's Wall Street, an online financial publication. Interviewees Needed!
Tammie Page is working on a Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership at the University of Phoenix. She is conducting a research study entitled "A phenomenological study of female executives in information technology companies in the Washington, DC metropolitan area". The purpose of the research study is to identify skill sets, coping mechanisms, and strategies used by executive-level women to sustain their positions for 3-5 years within information technology companies located in the Washington, DC area. Results of this study may increase awareness of the under-representation of women among information technology executives and help executive level women sustain their positions. Participation would include a 1 hour one-on-one audio recorded interview.
