What You See Is What You Get -- or Is It?

When Jennifer Mack went to hear a presentation by Rolls-Royce leaders at the University of Bath several months ago, one of her fellow business students asked, "What does it take to succeed at the company?"
The immediate answer: "Testosterone! Testosterone! Testosterone!"
In some ways, the students were lucky: They got an honest answer. The female students knew not to bother applying; the guys knew what kind of culture they'd encounter if they did.

It's Not Just In Your Head - Women Do Have More Pain

As a woman, do you feel that you have more pain? Research has confirmed that you probably do. And not just a small percentage more, but actually many times more. Your stage of life may influence the amount, too. Why is this, and what's happening?
These findings came from Dr. Kenneth Hargreaves, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Endodontics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA), who spoke at a recent conference. He mentioned that many studies have validated, across various areas (surgery, fibromyalgia, migraines, cancer, etc.), that women do have more pain, and they experience it twice as often. He shared the process and findings of UTHSCSA's research into whether pain is sexist. Our estrogen appears to be the culprit.

Patricia E. Moody receives Honorary Doctorate and gives Graduation Address at Endicott College
Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts, is pleased to announce that Patricia E. Moody was the commencement speaker and recipient of an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters at the sixty-fifth commencement exercises on Saturday, May 14, 2005.� Approximately 500 students graduated with a Master or Bachelor degree.
Patricia E. Moody was named by Fortune Magazine as "One of Ten Pioneering Women in Manufacturing," and she was also been featured on CNNs 21st Century with Bernard Shaw.� She has authored ten books, including The Big Squeeze: Ten Ways to Cut Your Spending 10% Right Now!, The Incredible Payback, and Breakthrough Partnering.� Her work has also been featured in such publications as Fortune Magazine, Sloan Management Review, and Target Magazine.
Ms. Moody has spent over 30 years in industry and consulting with clients such as British Petroleum, Motorola, Data General, Johnson & Johnson (McNeil Consumer Labs), and Respironics.� She has taught at both undergraduate and graduate levels.� She is often a keynote speaker at conferences and has facilitated corporate training and seminars.� Ms. Moody serves on numerous boards including Inside Supply Management, Sloan Management Review, and Ketera Technologies.� She was a Founder, Trustee, Incorporator, and Treasurer of the Marblehead Community Charter School, and she served on the Marketing Committee for Glen Urquhart School. She earned an M.B.A. from Simmons College Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts.
