10:00am - 1:00pm
Join the Chicago Microtechnology and Nanotechnology Community (CMNC) and Women in Technology International (WITI) Chicago in our first co-sponsored international collaborative workshop. Chicago is taking a leadership role in nanotechnology and has great potential to become one of the nanotechnology research and industrial centers of the world. We will be hosting an international videoconference to promote global collaboration for the commercialization of nanotechnology. Attend at one of two Chicagoland locations – Northwestern Evanston Campus or the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign/TRECC (located at the DuPage Airport). The workshop presenters will share their breakthroughs and discuss the challenges they face in commercialization and potential global markets for participating companies. We will hear from presenters who are leading experts in their fields:
· Dr. Mark Ratner, Morrison Professor of Chemistry and Associate Director of the Institute of Nanotechnology and Nanofabrication at Northwestern University. “Nanotechnology: A Gentle Introduction to the Next Big Idea”
· Dr. Nancy Sottos, Professor of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. “Development of Self Healing Polymers and Composites”
· Sweden: Two presentations from Dr. Martin Magnusson’s Pronano Group founded out of Lund University. Pronano is focused on improving collaboration between academia and industrial companies.
