September Event to Highlight WITI Member Benefits and Unveil Professional Development Program
This summer, the WITI steering committee redesigned its program. Starting in September, join us to re-engage with dynamic networking events and new professional development classes. On Sept. 16, WITI-Portland will showcase speakers who will discuss how to engage with the local chapter, as well as the advantages of WITI participation on the national level. We welcome existing members and those who are interested in joining WITI. For those who enroll at the event, we will offer a discounted membership price of $99. “Driving Your Own Career”
(Professional Development Class)
Experienced instructors will walk you through five two-hour sessions and guide you from the first step of understanding what you are trying to achieve, to identifying where you are on your roadmap, to discussing different ways to move towards your goals, and multiple techniques you can use to achieve success. The final session will include presenting your individual plan.
Success stories from the first “Driving Your Own Career” class include: seven individuals accepted new job positions within two months of completing the class, two individuals enroll into an educational program (back to school), and a new book club created to foster networking and collaboration.
“Mentoring Pilot” – Need 10 volunteer participants –
As part of WITI’s Professional Development Programming, a new mentorship program will be offered after an initial 3-6 month “pilot” session. At the September 16 event, we will be looking for 10 volunteers (5 pairings) who will work together to build the core foundation of a mentorship program suited to individual needs. This pilot session will run from October to approximately February 2004, and we hope to launch the official mentorship program in March 2004. If you are interested in participating in the mentoring pilot session, please contact Lisa Surber at 503-222-1660 or [email protected].
