Cheemin Bo-Linn Recognized in STEMconnector's® 100 CEO Leaders in STEM

WASHINGTON, D.C., December 12, 2016 - STEMconnector®, announced and released its 100 CEO Leaders in STEM publication at Gallup’s world headquarters. As visionaries, these 100 CEOs offer a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities surrounding a diverse, strong, STEM pipeline. Their insights will drive the action going forward.

Edie Fraser, CEO of STEMconnector® shared, "We are proud to highlight Dr. Cheemin Bo-Linn as one of the 100 CEO leaders and recognize her leadership and excellence. The role of CEOs becomes critical to business and innovation. These role models are change leaders." As CEO, Bo-Linn joins the CEOs from 3M, ADP, American Electric Power, AT&T, Battelle, Bayer, BP America, Comcast, Cubic, Deloitte LLP, Eli Lilly, ExxonMobil, Fluor, Ford Motor Company, GE Lighting, General Dynamics, International Paper, Johnson & Johnson, KPMG LLP, Lenovo, Lockheed Martin, Manpower Group, MasterCard, Monsanto, Northrop Grumman, PwC US, Qualcomm, Raytheon, SAS, Texas Instruments, Thermo Fisher Scientific, UPS, Verizon, and Walmart in receiving this award recognition.

As leaders of major companies with involvement in STEM fields, these 100 CEOs are uniquely placed to provide exemplary leadership on these issues. "I share this honor with other committed CEOs as we lead America’s efforts to address the widening gap between the 21st century STEM job demand and future skilled employees,” said Dr. Cheemin Bo-Linn, CEO and President of Peritus Partners, Inc., Board of Director for public companies, and former IBM Vice-President.

Drawing from their Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, these leaders believe that fostering a more inclusive STEM workforce should be the objective of any education initiative. Given the gender disparities in STEM, placing the emphasis on diversity is an area of broad agreement among these 100 CEOs. "Careers in STEM industries offer better compensation and more career advancement opportunities. Women who hold STEM positions earn 92 cents to the dollar versus 77 cents for women in other fields,” said Lorna Donatone, Chief Executive Officer of Sodexo Schools Worldwide. Each Chief Executive Officer is profiled across a two-page spread, and their thought-provoking reflections on STEM education, workforce development, public-private partnerships, and diversity in STEM will influence the national conversation regarding these issues.
