Extreme Leadership Makeover

Wednesday, March 23, 2011
8:00 AM

"Extreme Leadership Makeover with Charlotte Purvis" is a presentation created for audiences seeking innovative approaches to leadership development. Think of this program as a "reality show" for leaders. Using her 25+ years of experience as a communication coach, Charlotte will perform leadership makeovers using real-life scenarios including:
• Crucial conversations
• C-level presentations
• Coaching for performance

The program is fully interactive. After developing your leadership “scenes” for the reality show, you will receive coaching to support you in taking your leadership to the next level. During the discussion, we will share reflections on these three questions:
1. What is the role of effective communication in these scenarios?
2. How did the leader’s confidence affect the outcome?
3. How does effective leadership benefit the bottom line?

Like Charlotte’s clients, you will be better prepared to face your next leadership scenario with more confidence and ease after participating in this program. Get ready for an Extreme Leadership Makeover with Charlotte Purvis. You and your stakeholders will see the difference.

About Our Speaker(s)

CHARLOTTE PURVIS has had a life-long interest in how people communicate with each other. She has been fortunate to be able to use her academic training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.S., M.S.) and her passion for communication to build her business, Purvis Communications Inc. Charlotte develops innovative coaching programs for clients seeking to excel in business communication, leadership development, and customer relations.

THE SECRET TO HER SUCCESS

Charlotte just celebrated 25 years in business. What's the secret to the success of the business, considering that she uses none of the traditional business development methods (no sales, marketing, advertising, or Web site)? With humility, Charlotte answers in two words: "My clients." They have been the sales, marketing, and advertising team for Purvis Communications since its beginning in 1985. Nearly 100% of her business opportunities have resulted from client referrals and repeat business.

PASSION AND PURPOSE

To say that Charlotte is passionate about client service and client relationships is an understatement. The Purvis Communications brand is to gladly go above and beyond what clients expect. Charlotte is known for surprising clients, taking them to new places, and introducing them to new activities.

A POWERFUL PARTNERSHIP

Charlotte has been a GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) business partner since 1997, when she became the communication and customer service coach for the GSK Response Center and Field Response Center. In addition, Charlotte provides coaching to support high performance behaviors in sales, sales training, marketing, manufacturing, and R&D. In 2010, GSK outsourced a function to Purvis Communications, a first for Charlotte and her team.

PROUD MOMENTS

Through her customer service coaching, Charlotte influences over 1.5 million telephone calls each year. When she is watching television or reading a magazine and sees a toll-free number listed for a client's product, that's a proud moment. In many cases she coached the professional who will answer the call and knows the high level of service callers will receive. In addition, Charlotte had numerous proud moments while teaching at North Carolina Central University. Among them, receiving unexpected feedback from male students enrolled in her Business Communication class: "You helped me to be a better man."

CHARLOTTE'S MESSAGE

Charlotte enjoys speaking to large audiences. When asked about this, she said, "I learned how to speak to groups while growing up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where communication was a priority at home, at church, and at school." When speaking to audiences, she connects by sharing lessons learned from her 25 years of experience as a coach and speaker, her passion for music, and her personal story of surviving during tough times and thriving during good times.
