Smart Women Finish Rich is an interactive panelist discussion based on the writings of David Bach. Join us as we discussed seven tools for taking control of your financial future and finishing strong. The evening will offer a broad range of resources designed to lead women to achieve greater knowledge and confidence in planning for their financial future, as well as the opportunity to take a proactive role in the discussion with questions & answers.

About Our Speaker(s)

Panelist Moderator:

Shannon Parker is a Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in downtown San Jose. She is a licensed investment advisor and has earned her financial planning specialist designation. Shannon leads a global wealth management practice creating comprehensive financial plans for her clients. She began her career as a member of the Brokerage Team at Vanguard in Charlotte, North Carolina and continued working in personal financial management at the Austin Texas Smith Barney office. Formerly the President and founder of Dove’s Wings dance ministry in Raleigh, North Carolina and former captain of Impact Dance Movement at North Carolina State University; Shannon values leadership, innovation, and positively impacting her community. Shannon dual majored in Business Finance and International Studies at North Carolina State University. While a collegiate student she was a Caldwell Fellow and a University Scholar. She traveled, studied, and volunteered abroad in Peru, South America and the Dominican Republic. Shannon recently relocated to the Bay Area with her husband in the summer of 2008. Shannon enjoys building relationships with women and serving her community.

Panelist:

Liza Hanks is a graduate of Stanford Law School (1996) and a mother of two young children. She has been an estate planner since 2001, exclusively creating trusts and wills for families of all ages, as well as offering trust administration and probate services.
She left a large Silicon Valley law firm in 2001 (after the birth of her son) to start a practice that makes a positive difference to children and families. After eight years of solo practice she is now a partner at Finch Montgomery Wright in Palo Alto. In addition to practicing estate planning law, she has published three books, Estate Planning for Busy Families, (Nolo, 2007), The Mom's Guide to Wills and Estate Planning (Nolo, 2009), and The Trustee's Legal Companion (Nolo, 2010). She writes a blog, Everyday Estate Planning, http://www.estateplanninglawblawg.com/. She taught Estate Planning and Taxation at Santa Clara University Law School 2003-2006.

Panelist:

Tamara B. Pow, JD, MBA is a founding partner of Structure Law Group, LLP. She advises business owners and real estate investors on all aspects of business transactions, including liability protection and tax planning. Ms. Pow has extensive experience with the formation and representation of corporations, LLCs, LLPs, general partnerships and limited partnerships. She also handles 1031 exchange tax planning and other real estate matters, including purchase and sale agreements, due diligence reviews and leases. She is also a licensed California real estate broker (#01860035), a member of the Mensa Society, a commissioner on the City of Cupertino Public Safety Commission, and a mother of three boys.

Tamara Pow was voted on of Silicon Valley's Top 40 Under 40 in the Silicon Valley Business Journal's Annual Top 40 Under 40 edition. She was featured in the May 16, 2008 edition of the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal as one of the "40 rising stars in the valley...all of them younger that 40.

Jie Zhu is a CPA and PFS (Personal Financial Specialist). She has been with Petrinovich Pugh & Company LLP for eleven years and is a member of the firm’s Tax, Audit and Education Committees. She is experienced in broad range of tax issues for business entities and individuals including issues related to international tax and estate and trust. She also leads in financial and employee pension plan audits. she enjoys practicing in public accounting and helping people with their needs and to achieve their goals. She came to the United States in 1996 and moved to the Bay Area in 1997. She has two young children and is actively involved with her community.
