Payment Card Industry (PCI) and the PCI Data Security Standard (DSS): Too much?

Tuesday, August 18, 2009
5:30pm - 8:00 pm

Data is the basic cornerstone of business and it is also the target of intelligent criminals that seek to steal it to commit identity theft, cyber crime, corporate espionage, and other high tech, ill-intentioned activities. A company’s reputation relies on its ability to protect and manage this data; the risks are great but are the costs greater? How should the balance be determined and what are the criteria to be considered when doing the balancing?

Controls have to be in place to protect the personal identifying information that can link business transactions to the originating consumer and the most generally accepted standards to achieve this are the Payment Card Industry (PCI) and the PCI Data Security Standard (DSS). These were “developed to encourage and enhance cardholder data security and facilitate the broad adoption of consistent data security measures globally.”

Join us August 18th, 2009 at Assurant to discover the unique challenges faced by organizations, and whether compliance with the PCI DSS is necessary or if it’s all too much and too costly. With industry executives saying this sector will be one of their fastest-growing markets in coming years, and analysts saying it could generate over $10 billion in contracts by 2013, this is sure to be an exciting discussion from a panel of experts.
