WITI Honors Distinguished Women in Science and Technology During June

Tech-Savvy Wpmen WITI Plans Regional Events in All 38 Networks to Commemorate "Women in Science and Technology" Month. A Portion of All Memberships and Renewals will go Toward a WITI Scholarship Fund

San Jose, May 31, 2006 - WITI (Women in Technology International), a leading professional association for tech-savvy women has designated June as "Women In Science and Technology Month," commemorating woman innovators and trailblazers in the technology industry. WITI's Hall of Fame members will be honored during several events throughout June to encourage role models for the next generation of women.

WITI will donate a portion of the proceeds from each new membership and renewal made in June toward a scholarship fund. The WITI Scholarship Fund will be announced in October and encourages young women to explore higher levels of education and ultimately pursue futures in science and technology.

Throughout the entire month of June, WITI will give its two million plus members an opportunity to recognize meaningful contributions women have made to society and technology. The regional events and programs will be dedicated to empowering women in technology and promoting personal growth. During the month, WITI will also be honoring its Hall of Fame winners at events in their local networks or areas.

Some of the 2005 inductees include Barbara Bauer, vice president of software engineering and development at Sun Microsystems, Sonja Bernhardt, chief executive officer of Thoughtware Australia, Sandra E. Burke Ph.D, director of Cardiovascular Systems Research at Abbott, Melendy Lovett, president of Texas Instruments Educational & Productivity Solutions, Amparo Moraleda Martinez, IBM general manager of Spain, Portugal, Greece, Israel and Turkey, and Neerja Raman, the director of Imaging Systems Lab at HP Labs, HP.

"Every year we honor women in June for their dedication and hard work in science and technology," said Carolyn Leighton, CEO, Chairwoman and Founder of WITI. "These women are inspirational and calling attention to their hard work ensures that their legacies continue. We hope that everyone will take time in June to recognize the great women around them and join some of our networking events."

Events in June will focus on notable achievements made by the Hall of Fame members, changing perceptions of women, and building strong support networks in each region. Attendees and participants will be welcome to engage in conversations that stimulate connections, opportunities and a supportive environment. WITI encourages everyone to come out and celebrate the accomplishments made by women in these industries.
