Burdens of a Dream

We are living in fascinating times and, due to the coronavirus, millions of people have unexpectedly arrived at a personal and/or professional crossroads in their life. Many of those who have been affected are looking for hope, comfort, and a creative spark that will inspire them to get back on track.

I, too, have experienced similar hardships; after leaving the United States to serve in the Peace Corps, I started a distillery in Peru and abruptly lost it all. This series of events knocked me off course and led me to believe that I was a complete failure.

But as I explain in Chapter 31 of my book - "F.A.I.L." (or First Attempt in Learning), - what we commonly see as "failures" are just openings for growth. Everyone makes mistakes, and nobody is perfect. The beautiful thing is with the right perspective, we can transform our failures into valuable learning experiences that can pave the way for even better opportunities.

Now, as a business coach my goal is to change the face of entrepreneurship and help cultivate the growth of entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds. Knowing from first-hand experience, I realize the journey of entrepreneurship is an arduous process, and many people unfortunately give up when they run into failure.

Moving forward and transposing these words into a relatable topic, I believe the coronavirus has presented us all with a grand opportunity to leverage technology and build businesses that run more efficiently and effectively. For example, when the virus hit, I had to cancel most of my in-person workshops, speaking engagements, and national book tour; but now I am leveraging tools like Zoom, social media, and podcasts to spread my message while also increasing my influence, impact, and income.

Staying the course is not an easy task, but if you're willing to adapt and learn from your failures, then you are better equipped to accomplish your goals. Remember, life is an ever-evolving experience and as an entrepreneur your story is never finished being told, and you can always go back and rewrite the parts that didn't work the first time.

Regardless of your circumstances never be afraid to answer your calling to abandon the status quo, follow the road not taken, and discover the person you're truly meant to become!

Sincerely,

Craig
