6:00- 8:30 p.m.
When his father suffered a massive stroke and his mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Jim Comer found himself an overnight parent at the age of fifty-one. In eight years of care-giving, he learned how to deal with hospitals and nursing homes, replace hearing aid batteries and come to terms with his mother’s dementia. In the process, he found kindness and laughter in unexpected places and forged a deeper, more intimate relationship with his parents.
Jim’s presentation will tug at your heartstrings, make you laugh out loud, and provide practical tips and useful information on "Parenting Your Parents."
• Do your parents have a will? (Three out of ten Americans do. Ten out of ten will die.)
• Do you have the legal authority to act in your parents’ behalf in case of an emergency?
• Do you know the differences between retirement homes, assisted-living-facilities and nursing homes?
If you answer 'No' to any of these questions, you need to attend this event.
