Join WITI LA in Downtown LA for our first Executive Mentoring Event. Enjoy three 20-minute "coaching circles" for expert answers and advice on any number of topics including leadership, career advancement and technologies.

About Our Speaker(s)

Clarice Hovsepian currently serves as VP, Corporate Counsel for Capstone Turbine Corporation a manufacturer of green energy technology solutions in the distributed energy field.

She is a corporate executive with over 20 years of global transactional and litigation experience as in-house counsel within the Technology, R&D, Power Generation/Energy, Renewables, Consumer Products, Herbal Foods and Cosmetics industries. Clarice has demonstrated leadership in partnering with executive team and Board Members in the analysis of legal matters, complex transactions, investor relations, marketing, and human resources for the planning of strategic revenue growth and corporate direction.

Recognized for her corporate integrity, diligence and for launching strategic business initiatives resulting in increased compliance, she is deemed a valuable member of the organization providing ROI and shareholder value. She has proven expertise in drafting, negotiating and closing a wide variety of complex domestic and international transactions. Additionally, Clarice has extensive experience in negotiating complex transactions, corporate governance, employment, licensing and compliance.

She has the ability to mentor and forge strong business relationships, while managing cross-functional teams within fast-paced environments.

Her international experience includes - Africa, Europe, South America, Asia and Canada.

Vadim Parizher is an Executive Director of Enterprise Architecture at Allergan. In his role, he oversees technology direction and digital transformation of a global pharmaceutical company known for products such a Botox, Restasis and others. With operations in 100 countries, employing 18,000, and commitment to Open Science, Allergan's unique business model creates the most exciting challenge of Vadim's 22 year career in IT and engineering.

Prior to Allergan, Vadim developed his IT Management career at Amgen, a leading Biotechnology company, where he held several roles over 9 years, including Director of Application Services.

Vadim started his career at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) as a Software Engineer responsible for working with scientists on development of image processing software. The computer programs he developed were used in multiple NASA missions, including the Mars rovers, Galileo (Jupiter), Cassini (Saturn), and others. After leaving JPL, his other technical roles included mobile CRM development at McKesson and architecting new billing system at 21st Century Insurance (then part of AIG).

Vadim holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in Computer Science from California State University Northridge and a Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University. He worked all through undergraduate years as a Coop Engineer with Los Angeles County and JPL. Later in his professional career, he held appointments as Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State Northridge universities. Vadim lives in Irvine, California with his wife and three sons, enjoying running, swimming and other sports.

For over two decades, Jeanette DePatie has served as a professional "techsplainer"--taking really complicated technologies and technological concepts and breaking them down into everyday language that everyone can understand. She has shared her wildly entertaining and educational views on technology trends with companies like, McDonalds, Reynolds, Meredith, Better Homes and Gardens, Facebook and 20th Century Fox. She also proudly boasts that she once raised several million dollars in venture capital for a technology company with a presentation featuring two pieces of PVC pipe, a plastic funnel and a rubber chicken.

She has been hired to describe technology by a host of Fortune 500 companies including Adobe, Apple, Intel, Microsoft, Monsanto, NTT Electronics, Panasonic, Pulitzer Samsung and Sony. She is highly sought after for her dynamic and fun presentations and has spoken at CES, NAB, SMPTE CEATECH The Lean Startup Conference and a variety of Colleges and Universities including Dickenson College, UCLA and USC. She is frequently contacted by the media and has appeared on or in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Dr. Drew, The Katie Couric Show, ABC News, CBS Interactive, NPR and The Huffington Post.

At her core, Jeanette DePatie is a spectacular storyteller and a seasoned producer. She has served on the national board of the Producers Guild of America and has curated a wide variety of extremely popular live events including the Visionaries, Innovators and Producers event in conjunction with the New York Times, the VIP awards at the Produced By Conference and Producing Change (about linking technology and social good) in conjunction with LA Center Studios. She has produced literally hundreds of hours of live streaming content that has been distributed throughout the world.

Ms. DePatie has also put her skills to work bringing about a new generation of techsplainers. She has worked with hundreds of technology companies and engineers to help them tell their technology story in a way that is clear, compelling and wildly commercial (helping to raise quite a few million dollars in the process.) She has provided speaker training for The Lean Startup Conference, ASDAH, CEATECH, SMPTE and a variety of other organizations. Jeanette DePatis is the president of Propellerhead, Inc, a software company making musical dreams come true.

Carrie McCray has 18 years of experience in marketing, operations and product management. She spent 7 years at Deluxe Entertainment, a large global entertainment film company, rising up the ranks to eventually head up the Television and Home Entertainment division. After that, she took a role launching a new marketing and public relations department for an overseas Entertainment and Film Academy company. For the past 8 years, Carrie has worked for Outlook Amusements, a firm dedicated to building and maintaining entertainment related online advice platforms. She is currently the Director of Product Management (and PMO) focused upon new mobile app strategies for the company. Carrie specializes in fast paced environments, wears many hats and knows how to manage successful projects from A to Z.

Vicki Shillington has over 20 years of experience working closely with Executive teams, successfully implementing significant improvements to the effectiveness of their organizations. She has deep expertise in organization strategy and design, job analysis and design, competency model design, learning paths and career pathway design. She is often asked to help organizations design and implement their talent management strategy.

From the basis of a solid career and competency framework, she leads management and leadership development workshops and coaching programs. While she works across a variety of functions and industries, she is particularly passionate about technology and digital organizations. Her focus is on activities that lead to a significant improvement in the candidate and employee experience, enabling technology organizations to attract and retain top talent.

In her current role as Chief Happiness Officer for Beachbody Technology, Vicki works closely with the CIO and People Team. Responsibilities include building strong organizational foundations and removing impediments in order to make it an awesome employee and candidate experience. This includes raising the capability across the whole organization through recruitment, onboarding, training and coaching.

For over 20+years Karen Cecilio has been a leader helping firms with their strategic and integration initiatives. From her early days as an Engineering student at Marquette University, to her first job as a computer programmer, her career has been a series of progressive steps with increased responsibility both in team and scope of efforts entrusted to her. Her passion comes from knowing that high performance teams aren’t simply managed, instead they are empowered, inspired, mentored and supported. The result is they in turn help companies reach and exceed their goals.

Recently promoted to a newly created role at Cetera Financial Group (CFG); Head of Crisis Management, BCP and Corporate Real Estate to fill key organizational gaps. She was previously the Director of the Project Management office at CFG for 6 years. In that capacity she led teams located in 6 US locations and with matrix responsibility for project team members offshore in India and Eastern Europe and Business Leaders located in over a dozen states. Before CFG her tenure at Thomson Reuters (TR) spanned over 12 years. There she was a telecommuting manager with oversight of teams in multiple US locations responsible for technology and back office brokerage firm implementations. One of her most significant achievements at TR was winning ‘Thomson Reuters Great Talent Manager’ in its inaugural year, made even more meaningful by the fact that nominations were voluntary employee submissions across the Americas and Asia.

Karen has lived in Southern California since November 2007 and is currently a resident of Marina Del Rey.

Born in Jamaica she moved to the US (Wisconsin) as a teenager. In addition to Los Angeles she has lived in Milwaukee, Seattle and Cincinnati.

With a passion for traveling the world, she’s visited over 30 countries and 40+ US States. Enjoying the pleasures of SoCal living, being by the ocean, listening to music, drinking great wine, going to the movies, attending the opera and reading great books are among her interests. An avid workout fan, mostly Pilates and Spin, hiking the trails and paths around LA is another of her fitness interests. Karen is also dedicated to the mentoring process, having been both a mentor and a mentee. She is currently a mentor with Everwise.

Her family is scattered across the US, England, Canada and Jamaica but she has made 'new' family here in California and she enjoys spending time with them whenever she can.

Kathy Lomax is an experienced senior IT executive with over 25 years' experience in leading Financial Services and Healthcare organizations, most recently as VP of IT at Capital Group Companies, home of the American Funds. Ms. Lomax has served in a variety of global roles including Infrastructure and web hosting, quality management, and application support where she was sought out to transform teams and ignite talent. She has also served as a leader on numerous IT governance related initiatives. Ms. Lomax is currently in transition seeking her next exciting transformational opportunity to lead, inspire, and drive results.

Ms. Lomax is a strong advocate for supporting the advancement of women in IT. She founded ITG Women's Connect, a Capital Group community with the mission of connecting and supporting women in IT. She also led the Orange County Regional Network for Women In Technology International (WITI) for three years, and is currently on the Global Advisory Board for WITI. In 2016, Ms. Lomax was nominated for Woman's Advocate of the Year by Connected Women of Influence.
