This exciting event will include a distinguished panel of women. They will be here to discuss the topic of Women in Society and Politics. This unique and rare opportunity will allow everyone to hear opinions from this highly decorated panel.

About Our Speaker(s)

Dina Titus
Senator Dina Titus represents the 7th Senatorial District in Clark County and has served in the Nevada State Senate since 1989. She has served as the Democratic Leader since 1993. Dr. Titus earned her Bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary, her Master’s degree from the University of Georgia and her PhD from Florida State University. A noted non-fiction writer, Senator Titus is the author of Bombs in the Backyard: Atomic Testing and American Politics (University of Nevada Press, Revised Edition 2001) and Federal-State Relations in Nevada During the Twentieth Century (Kendall-Hunt, 1989). Readers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal selected her as their Favorite Female Las Vegan of the Year in 1997 and again in 1999. Senator Titus is married to Professor Tom Wright.

Marybel Batjer is vice president of public policy and communications for Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc., the world’s largest gaming-entertainment company. In this role, she oversees all internal and external communications functions for the publicly traded Fortune 500 corporation and counsels its senior executive team on issues pertaining to reputation-management, public policy and government relations. Before joining Harrah’s in January 2005, Batjer held senior leadership posts in the executive branches of two state governments, as well as key advisory roles in two U.S. presidential administrations and at the Pentagon.

Commissioner Giunchigliani earned a BA degree in special education from Avila College in Kansas City, Mo. in 1976, and later attended UNLV where she earned a Master’s degree in education with a special emphasis on the emotionally disturbed. She has also compiled more than 50 additional credit hours in post-graduate work.Her teaching career began in the Shawnee Mission School District in Kansas, where she taught from 1976 to 1978, and then moved to Clark County to be a special education teacher. Chris was a special education teacher here from 1979 to 1983 and again from 1991 until the spring of 2003. She then spent about a year at the Community College of Southern Nevada in School District and Community Relations, before returning to the Clark County School District in 2005 as a special education facilitator and mentor to new teachers.
Chris’ extensive experience with various boards, committees and associations includes serving as president of the Clark County Education Association from 1983 to 1987, and then as president of the Nevada State Education Association from 1987 to 1991. Chris and her husband Gary Gray have been married since 1987 and live in Las Vegas with their English bulldogs
