Cloud computing is a style of computing in which dynamically scalable and
often virtualized resources are provided as a service over the Internet.
Users need not have knowledge of, expertise in, or control over the
technologyinfrastructure in the "cloud" that supports them. Microsoft,
Salesforce.com, BMC Software and others will share their vision and plans to
bring Cloud Computing to its clients.
Cloud Computing - What is it: Data Center Automation, Desk Top Automation, Virtualization
- How virtualization / cloud computing will change the pace of introducing new business applications
- How software development and software marketing, and pricing will change based on cloud computing
- How HP and HP customers are using cloud computing today (i.e. HP’s on-demand magazine and book publishing via the cloud, etc)
- How cloud computing will change the nature of technology careers and how best to prepare for these changing career opportunities

Steve Schlabs with Salesforce.com
Steve is a software as a service veteran having spent the last seven years with Salesforce.com. Prior to taking a sales role in early 2008, he was a founding member of the Professional Services leadership team and ran the US Eastern Region from 2002 through 2004. In 2005, he was asked by Salesforce.com CEO, Marc Benioff, to take a role as the Global Strategic Account Manager for Cisco. He and his teams have been responsible for some the company’s largest deployments including Symantec, Dell, Cisco, Merrill Lynch, Nextel, SunTrust Bank, and ADP to name a few.
He has spoken at Salesforce.com’s annual user conference in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 as well as at Software 2006 and TPSA in 2007. He and Samantha Loveland co-published a whitepaper on best practices for large saas deployments in 2006.
Prior to entering the high tech industry at EDS, Steve was an US Army officer and led a platoon during the Gulf War in 1990 and 1991. He graduated from US Army Airborne and Ranger schools and was awarded a Bronze Star from his deployment to Desert Storm.
He and his wife live in Austin , Texas with their two young boys.
Keith Jahn
Keith is a senior director in the office of the CTO in Hewlett Packard’s Software & Solutions business unit, where he is responsible for driving product and service strategies for the company’s service management and cloud efforts.
Previously, Keith was the Chief Technologist for HP’s commercial outsourcing group, where he led the business strategy and automation of its global service delivery organization. Prior to these roles, Keith spent 20 years as an IT practitioner, architect and strategist at several Fortune 500 companies. He joined HP through Compaq Computer Corporation when the two companies merged in 2001. He has contributed his leadership skills and expertise to multiple large-scale M&A integration initiatives and has led multiple IT transformation programs.
In 2007, Keith co-authored a book with Rebecca Lawson entitled, “Transforming IT: A five-step plan for adopting a service-centric IT model.” He has also co-authored a blueprint on the next generation IT operating model called the “Service Management Ecosystem”.
Keith received his BBA in MIS from Texas State University in San Marcos . He is a native Texan and a avid student of its history. He and his wife are both native Houstonians and are the proud parents of three very active daughters.
