Lorraine Stephen’s imaginative approaches to training have earned her the reputation of being one of the most reputable computer application trainers in the Triangle. As an expert in her field she has received her Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) certification, is a certified MOUS Master Instructor, and is highly recognized among her peers.

Among her well-received seminars is the “I Wish I Had Known That Yesterday” series, which is also the title of her first book. This series of seminars delivers tips that focus on making advanced users out of beginning users of Microsoft Word. With personalized training delivered to more than thirty-five hundred individuals, she still continues to seek out exciting and different methods of reaching her audience.

Lorraine Stephens: President, L. Stephens & Associates, Inc.: The Education & Technology Group

Over thirty-three years experience in technical support, management, marketing, course development and training with major corporations, small businesses and school systems forms the foundation for Lorraine’s training, speaking, and consulting services. She and her associates assist companies and individuals with maximizing their productivity through effective use of computer applications. She has worked with large and small businesses alike and specializes in tailored training and presentations to address specific needs.

Lorraine has served on the Board of Associates for Saint Augustine’s College, and currently serves as a member of the Disciplinary Hearing Commission of the North Carolina State Bar Association, The Hospice of Wake County Speakers Bureau, The Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee, The YWCA of the Greater Triangle Executive Committee, and on the City Advisory Board of Mechanics & Farmers Bank. She is an alumnus of Leadership Raleigh, has provided internships to high school students through the Business Education Leadership Council.

She was recognized in August 2002 by The Business Journal as a recipient of the 2002 Women In Business Award. The YWCA has selected her as a 2002 inductee into the YWCA Academy of Women in the Science & Technology category; the North Carolina Justice and Community Development Center recognized her as “A Friend of Justice” in October 2002, The Business Leader recognized her as one of the Impact 100 Businesses in January 2003, and The Raleigh Triangle Chapter of The American Business Women’s Association selected her as Woman of the year in April 2003.

Her professional and service organizations include The American Business Women’s Association, Raleigh Professional Women’s Forum, Chamber Executive Women’s Task Force (Chair Person), Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., The National Speakers Association, National Speakers Association of Carolinas, and Toastmasters of America.

Location: Penthouse Level (28th & 29th floors) of the Wachovia Capitol Center, overlooking the State Capitol and Legislative Offices in the heart of downtown Raleigh.

Directions from I-40 & Beltline to Cardinal Club:
Take I-40/440 East to Exit 298-B (South Saunders Street North). Turn right off exit ramp from I-40/440. Stay in the right hand lane all the way to South Street. Turn right onto South Street. Take a left onto Wilmington Street going North. Continue for four blocks until you cross Hargett Street. Alexander Square parking garage is located on the left hand side of Wilmington Street.
