Join us as our panel of industry experts explores the timely topic of how to manage your career strategically and effectively in today's evolving marketplace.

Developing a long-term strategic career plan and proactively positioning yourself, the product, is essential to career satisfaction and opportunity. Many business professionals do not plan for or take into account, the political struggles at their current workplace, life cycles of companies, and/ or fluctuations in the economy, and may find themselves seeking employment sooner than planned. Without proactive, strategic career planning, professional marketing, and a winning resume, they may find themselves in a stressful life situation of finding another position without the appropriate planning, tools, and guidance.

Our panel consists of a two executive search firm representatives, a business owner from a firm that specializes in career management services and executive coaching, and a human resource executive with a biotechnology firm. They will discuss the following:

Bio of Martha Hayworth, MBA, MA, Strategies for Excellence:

Martha Hayworth, founder of Strategies for Excellence, has helped entrepreneurs, executives, and professionals to develop a roadmap for career advancement and satisfaction, improve leadership and communication skills, and achieve professional goals.

Martha has over 15 years of combined experience in the areas of consulting, coaching, and sales/business development. She has consulted, advised, and collaborated with clients of all types from entrepreneurs to professionals and executives. In addition, she has consulted with many companies from small startups to Fortune 500 organizations. Prior to starting Strategies for Excellence, Ms. Hayworth worked in management positions at National Liberty Corporation and IMS Health, a former division of Dun & Bradstreet. Martha's credentials include a Master's in Business Administration from Drexel University and a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego. She is also certified in the Emotional Intelligence Inventory through the Hay Group.

Martha's commitment to the advancement of professional women is demonstrated through her community involvement in numerous women's organizations. Martha serves on the Board of Directors for WITI – San Diego and the Executive Committee for the February 2006 conference, "Taking the Lead in San Diego" To encourage and support professional advancement of young women, Ms. Hayworth founded the Hayworth Seva Scholarship Program at Guiilford College, Greensboro, NC, in 1993.

Bio of Ken C. Schmitt, Judy Thompson & Associates:

Ken C. Schmitt, Senior Director of Judy Thompson & Associates Financial Executive Search, has been placing mid and senior level accounting and financial professionals with Southern California companies for nine years. Bio of Toni Wayne, Prometheus Labs

Toni Wayne joined Prometheus Labs in June 2004. Prior to joining them, she was with Baxter Healthcare where she was Vice President of Human Resources for their BioScience division. In this capacity, she provided human resources leadership for the division's global Research and Development, Biopharmaceutical, and Vaccines commercial organizations. Previous responsibilities within Baxter included regional support for the division's North America manufacturing operations and plasma centers. Ms. Wayne also held the position of Vice President, Human Resources for Elan Pharmaceutical's Biopharmaceutical division. Prior to her positions with Baxter and Elan, she held varying positions of management responsibility in human resources, manufacturing, quality and project management with Hybritech Incorporated, then a division of Eli Lilly. Ms. Wayne began her career in research with Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation. Ms. Wayne has a B.A. in Biology from the University of California, San Diego.
