Based on a case study of Shirley Baker’s life, she is in her 30s, is married and has two young children. The panel will draw upon the breadth and depth of their experience to offer solutions for life’s financial challenges.

Bio of Vivian R. Chan, Merrill Lynch:

Vivian R. Chan is a Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch in La Jolla. Vivian has worked in the financial advisory industry since 1994 working initially with institutions, and in 2002 began providing comprehensive wealth management advice and services to select high net worth families. She is a Chartered Retirement Planning Consultant (CRPC) and is currently working towards her Certified Financial Planning (CFP) designation. She specializes in helping clients with estate planning, wealth transfer and preservation. After graduating from California State University Fullerton with a BA in International Business, Vivian traveled the world for 2 years before joining Ernst & Young's Corporate Finance group, where she spent the next 6 years providing general M&A, corporate recovery and debt restructuring services. She is a member of Athena.

Bio of Muriel L. McElhinney, Merrill Lynch:

Muriel L. McElhinney is a Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch in La Jolla. Originally from the southwest of France, Muriel has called San Diego home for over 10 years. Before joining Merrill Lynch, Muriel worked as a strategic management consultant for environmental, non-profit organizations, and was a project manager for Total Aerospace Division. She is a graduate of Science-Po in France and holds an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Finance from SDSU. She is a Chartered Retirement Planning Consultant (CRPC) and is currently working towards her Certified Financial Planning (CFP) designation. Through her work with individuals in transition, Muriel built her expertise in helping clients untangle complexities and navigate through major life changes. She specializes in retirement strategies and liability management. She is a proud member of the San Diego Women Foundation and Athena.

Bio of Jason S. Sheinberg, Attorney, Moore Lewis Schulman & Moore APC:

Jason S. Sheinberg is an Associate Attorney at Moore, Lewis, Schulman & Moore APC in San Diego. His practice is rooted in Estate Planning, as well as guardianships and conservatorships. Mr. Sheinberg has been practicing law in San Diego since 2004, and has learned from some of the best in the business. While in law school, he clerked for famed attorney Marvin M. Mitchelson, as well as Erik Moore of Moore, Lewis, Schulman & Moore, APC. After graduating from law school and passing the California Bar, Mr. Sheinberg acted as Corporate Counsel for a large estate planning company in Orange County. After leaving that position, Mr. Sheinberg took his current position as lead estate planning counsel at Moore, Lewis, Schulman & Moore, APC. Since taking up this position, he has drafted countless estate plans, incorporating all types of trusts and business entities, with an emphasis on advanced estate planning. Mr. Sheinberg is also proud to serve as Court Appointed Counsel in matters regarding guardianship and conservatorship in the Superior Court of California, County of San Diego.

Education: University of San Diego B.A. History 2000; Thomas Jefferson School of Law J.D. 2003; San Diego State University Masters of Public Administration 2005.
