Web 2.0 Technologies: Connect and Collaborate

Tuesday, November 6, 2007
5:45 pm - 8:00 pm

Join WITI and IBM on Nov. 6, 2007 to understand how Web 2.0 technologies can revolutionize your collaborative processes and environments! The presenter and subject matter expert is Marie Manchesi, BP Middleware Executive Strategist, who specializes in advising clients and business partners on the powers of innovation that WPLC technologies offer as social and collaborative software. During this interactive session, we will examine how Web 2.0 and proven IBM technologies used as examples, create forums encouraging secure Social collaboration and discussion, leading to increased employee productivity and efficiency. This technology is built completely on open standards and integrates with Microsoft technologies.

Learn about enabling users to create social bookmarks, tagging and building Web dashboards, blogs, wikis, and online communities and profiles, such as what's offered on Facebook or LinkedIn. IBM has developed a suite of five purely Web 2.0 components designed to help companies find experts on topics, bring together teams around a common point and access information.

Collaboration capabilities such as blogs and wikis are software that enables anyone to input qualified information on a Web page or site. Team space templates are the easiest to deploy that support the processes necessary to get collaboration projects up quickly.

Open standards-based collaboration tools enable teams inside and outside a company to work together across different geographies, operating systems and working styles. The tools available today represent the most contemporary approach for the next generation workforce.

Unified Messaging represents the convergence of voice mail, e-mail, and fax so that all messages are stored in a single location and can be accessed from a variety of devices, including telephones and PCs. Unified Communications (UC) takes Unified Messaging a step further by extending message access to additional devices and technologies, such as mobile phones, pagers, PDAs, and browsers. In addition, Unified Communications provides notification features that will alert subscribers in different ways when they receive a message that meets certain criteria.

Unlock data and enable business users to create mashups—the remix and repurposing of data into a single application or Web site, such as a mix of Google Maps with a real estate site to show where available homes are located. The tools enable users to create rich user interfaces in the client—a personal desktop, laptop or mobile device to catalog, combine and transform informal data that can be used in applications or processes.

Join us and learn how Web 2.0 technologies will transform your corporate communications into a flexible, reusable and collaborative environment!
