About Our Speaker(s)

Michael Chevalier is the Manager of Occupational and Industry Research for the Labor Market Information group of NC Employment Security Commission. His team produces employment projections by occupation and industry, conducts research on changes in employment patterns, and provides information to assist educators, planners, and the general public in workforce development. He brings to the position more than 25 years of experience in market analysis, business research, and economic forecasting. Prior to joining the ESC in February, he was Director of Business Analytics for Capital Analytics, a consulting firm based in Durham, NC that uses advanced analytics to evaluate investments in human capital and performance. One project was the analysis of the social learning platform for Sun Microsystems. As Manager of Market Research at Global Knowledge, the IT training firm based in Cary, NC, Mr. Chevalier designed and published the company's first IT Salary and Skills Survey in 2006, now the largest such survey in the industry. He moved into business intelligence and IT training after nearly a decade of work in energy efficiency, consumer behavior, and technology innovation with electric utilities.

Mr. Chevalier holds a BA in Managerial Economics and an MBA with a concentration in Marketing and has held several adjunct teaching positions. He lives in Wake Forest where he hopes to finally install his definitely "low-tech" passive solar water heater this summer.
