Today’s world demands that organizations be ready for any event that might threaten the continuity of their business operations. Continuous operation 365 days a year, regardless of unusual internal or external events, is essential to ensure competitive position, resilience, and survival of a company. September 11th was a wake up call for organizations to address what has been ignored for far too long: rigorous and effective processes for business continuity.
The creation of a sound business continuity and contingency plan is a complex undertaking, involving several stages and discrete activities. A thorough understanding of how businesses of different shapes and sizes tackle this challenge will enable you to shape a business continuity strategy and build business continuity into the core of your company’s culture.
Creating a continuity plan involves first understanding the underlying risks and the potential impact of those risks. This foundation understanding enables you to create a sound business continuity and disaster recovery plan, test it, maintain it, and audit it to ensure it works and remains appropriate to the company’s needs.
This presentation will cover:
Assessing business risk and impact of potential emergencies, environmental disasters, organized and/or deliberate disruption, loss of utilities and services, equipment or system failure, serious information security incidents, and other emergency situations
Understanding the financial and operational impact and analyzing your options: alternative business process handling, IT systems back-up and recovery, premises and essential equipment back-up and recovery, customer service, administration and operations, information and documentation
